Lake Mary Man Files Personal Injury Lawsuit Against Upscale Apartment Complex
An Orlando area man injured in a gas grill explosion last July recently filed a lawsuit against the upscale Station House Apartments complex where he suffered his personal injury. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the Oviedo High School teacher was with his son and a friend when he suffered first and second degree burns after the gas grill he attempted to light suddenly blew up.
The force of the blast was so powerful it knocked the plaintiff unconscious and sent the gas grill flying into the air. Another gas grill nearby also blew up in the accident. The explosion also caused superficial damage to the brick exterior housing the gas grills. Fire department officials say the blast occurred after the gas line to the grill was left on by a previous user.
The victim’s lawsuit alleges the upscale Orlando area apartment complex should have taken reasonable steps to protect residents by turning off the gas grills when not in use or provide warning to others the gas grills may be left on by other residents. The plaintiff alleges he missed work as an Uber driver due to injuries to his feet and legs and seeks $15,000 in damages.
